To kick off Harlowton's 4th of July celebrations, a delicious breakfast was prepared in benefit of the new fire hall. Directed by Tom and Beth Keating and with the help of the Volunteer Fire Crew, Cream of the West, Midtown Market and Redneck Stampede, the breakfast was a great success. When talking to Beth about how the idea came about she replied, "Tom and I wanted to do something special for the community and thought, what better than the new Fire Hall? Everyone benefits from the Fire Department." Cream of the West donated 40 pounds of flapjack mix along with donations from Redneck Stampede and Midtown Market.
The Firemen lent their time to set up, cook, and do the cleaning afterward, as they were excited about the cause. With the hope of making nearly $1,500 and serving 200 breakfasts, the crew was surprised with a total of 400 breakfasts sold and, along with matching funds from Thrivent for Lutherans, reeling in $5,400. Beth had the pleasure of handing Fire Chief Dean Thompson the check after the very worthwhile event. "It was great, and I was happy with the success. We hope to be getting the fire hall up for bid within the next 10 days," Thompson said. Josh Barnhart, a volunteer fire fighter also commented, "we had a great turn out and hopefully it's something we can do again next year." Thanks to all who helped and donated, and good luck to the Fire Department.
